On this week’s very special edition of Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider, Jeff Bayer is in Africa, doing goodness knows what, but do not fear! He and Eric D. Snider pre-taped some stuff before he left, so the show still has your recommended daily allowance of Bayer. They both liked “Hanna” pretty well. In the studio, Mike Russell (@culturepulp on Twitter) and Snider agreed that “Arthur” is passable but nothing special. Via Skype, Matt Patches (@misterpatches) told us about “Soul Surfer,” and he and Snider expressed their disappointment in “Your Highness.” Then: pre-taped Pitch Me, with Henry Winkler and Natalie Portman! And all was well in the land.

Episode 53: ‘Source Code,’ ‘Insidious,’ ‘Hop,’ ‘Win Win’
Things are about to get all emotional up in here as Movie B.S. with
Bayer and Snider celebrates their one-year anniversary! They decide to
break from the norm, and for a change this week they’ll be reviewing
movies. First up is “Source Code,” which both of them decidedly gave
good Gyllenhaal. Next up, Eric saw the horror flick “Insidious” and
Bayer did not. But don’t worry, they both sat through “Hop” so you
don’t have to. Finally, Portland got “Win Win” starring Paul Giamatti,
so the boys talk about it. Plus, there were tons of great responses
for the QOTW “What was your best movie moment that you would want to
relive?” This week’s QOTW is to win a copy of “TRON: Legacy” and it’s
a bit of trivia … what episode to the current Movie B.S. theme song
debut?
Send your answers to one of the following. Bayer is off to Africa
(seriously) but don’t worry, there is a new show next week. That’s
just the power of the internet!

Episode 52: ‘Sucker Punch,’ ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules,’ ‘Jane Eyre’
On this week’s Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider, Jeff and Eric would like you to know that “Sucker Punch” and “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules” are both terrible. And they liked all of Zack Snyder’s other movies! Not “Sucker Punch,” though. (Jeff says the first “Wimpy Kid” was bad, too, and we’re taking his word for it.) “Jane Eyre,” on the other hand, is a lovely, evocative, romantic period piece, so you should go see it. QOTW action had some good “what alien would you like to meet?” answers. Next QOTW: What movie-watching experience would you most like to re-live? Note we’re not asking what movie do you want to re-watch, but what movie-watching *experience*. E-mail moviebspdx@gmail.com, or post at Facebook.com/moviebspdx. Find us also on Twitter @moviebs.
Episode 51: ‘Paul,’ ‘Limitless,’ SXSW
This week on Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider … it’s the most chaotic show we’ve ever done! Join us for chills, spills and special guest star Mike Russell! Eric was stranded at the airport, so we had Mike fill in while talking about “Paul” starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and the voice of Seth Rogen. While Mike liked it a little more than Jeff, the one thing that they both agreed on is that you should lower your expectations. Then Eric joined on a cell phone from Portland International Airport. Yes, the idea had its problems. Jeff talked about “Limitless” starring Bradley Cooper and what a nice surprise it was. After that is was all things SXSW. The boys quickly recapped their adventures at the film festival and the movies they saw. We’re continuing the QOTW “What movie alien would you want to land in your backyard and why?” For your chance to win a Blu-ray or DVD send us your answer to one of the following below. Thank you, and good day, sir.

Episode 50: ‘Battle Los Angeles,’ ‘Red Riding Hood,’ ‘Mars Needs Moms,’ propaganda contest winners, Interquel
Your old pals Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider are off to Austin for South By Southwest, but that didn’t stop them from delivering a piping-hot new edition of Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider first! All the movies this week are about aliens and monsters and stuff. “Battle Los Angeles” offers good action, too much shaky-cam, and war-movie cliches. “Red Riding Hood” is stupid. “Mars Needs Moms” is flat and lifeless. B & S also play a game of Interquel that gets dark and weird, announce the winners of last week’s propaganda contest, and add a few new agents to the Movie B.S. census. QOTW: What movie alien would you most like to find in your back yard, and why? (Note: No humanoids, e.g., Luke Skywalker.) Send your answers to moviebspdx@gmail.com, or post at facebook.com/moviebspdx. If you’re in Austin for SXSW, keep an eye on Twitter — @MovieBS, @EricDSnider, @BayerJeff — for a meet-up.
Episode 49: ‘Rango,’ ‘The Adjustment Bureau,’ ‘Take Me Home Tonight,’ ‘Beastly,’ Oscar recap
This week on Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider …
Film critics Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider start with a giveaway of “127 Hours” the only way they know how, with propaganda. They also quickly recap Jeff’s win with the Academy Awards and what that means for Eric. Then, it’s time for movie reviews. First up, “Rango” starring Johnny Depp. Love? Really like? Any way you cut it, go see it. Then it’s “The Adjustment Bureau” starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt. Again, the boys agree this is a movie worth seeing. Then it’s “Take Me Home Tonight” and “Beastly.” One is better than the other. You can figure out which?
For your chance to win “127 Hours” show us your best propaganda piece on getting people to listen/like us on Facebook/follow us on Twitter. Yes, a screenshot would easily qualify for this contest.

Episode 48: ‘Hall Pass,’ ‘Drive Angry,’ interview and Pitch Me with screenwriter Paul Tamasy (‘The Fighter,’ ‘Air Bud’)
The pre-Oscars edition of Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider has a special guest: Paul Tamasy, who’s nominated for an Academy Award for writing “The Fighter”! An actual Oscar nominee, on our stupid little show! Paul tells us about the process of researching and writing “The Fighter,” of working with Christian Bale and David O. Russell, and of his previous cinematic legacy, which was writing “Air Bud.” Paul joins in a quick round of Pitch Me, too. Bayer and Snider have an Oscar bet going, so watch for their predictions at facebook.com/moviebspdx and see who wins. As for the new movies this week, “Hall Pass” has its moments but is overall a loss, while “Drive Angry” is fun as far as insane grindhouse trash goes.
Episode 47: ‘Unknown,’ ‘I Am Number Four,’ ‘Big Mommas: Like Father Like Son,’ ‘I Am,’ ‘Cedar Rapids,’ Pitch Me
This week, film critics Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider talk about movies! First up, “Unknown” starring Liam Neeson and January Jones is not that bad, or pretty good, depending on how you look at it. “I am Number Four” is a sci-fi movie that Eric and Jeff have slightly different opinions on, tune in to listen to the tension! Eric sat through “Big Mommas: Like Father Like Son,” so that happened. Jeff sat through the documentary “I Am” and the critics had yet another difference of opinion with “Cedar Rapids.” Can you stand it? Next week, all signs point to the screenwriter Paul Tamasy being on our show. He’s even nominated for an Oscar for “The Fighter.” So now, the QOTW is simple, SEND US YOUR “THE FIGHTER” QUESTIONS!

Episode 46: ‘The Eagle,’ ‘Just Go with It,’ ‘Gnomeo & Juliet,’ ‘The Company Men,’ Portland Int’l Film Festival
In this week’s edition of “Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider,” Jeff and Eric agree that the best option for Valentine’s Day weekend is “The Eagle.” Not that it’s romantic, it just isn’t terrible. “Just Go with It” and “Gnomeo & Juliet,” on the other hand, are not pleasing to the senses. In limited release, “The Company Men,” starring Ben Affleck and Tommy Lee Jones as newly unemployed white-collar guys, is worth checking out. Bayer and Snider also read your QOTW answers and give a new QOTW: What living actor or filmmaker would you most want to interview, and what would be the one question you’d have to ask if you did? Send your responses to moviebspdx@gmail.com, or post ’em at www.facebook.com/moviebspdx. Finally, the guys give a few recommendations on what to see at the Portland International Film Festival, or PIFF, as the cool kids call it.
Episode 45: ‘Sanctum,’ Pitch Me
Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider are both live and in the studio this week for a scintillating edition of Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider. “Sanctum” — a movie with which James Cameron is somehow vaguely affiliated — is about caves and underwater and stuff, and Bayer liked it more than Snider, although they both gave it the same grade. “The Roommate” wasn’t screened for critics. Wasn’t even screened for the yahoos who go to promotional screenings. Must be awesome! Bayer and Snider also discuss the answers to the QOTW (which two actresses should make a movie together?), and issue a new QOTW: What three films would you program for a mini-marathon for Valentine’s Day? Also, a rousing and controversial edition of Pitch Me involving race relations and mad scientists. Send your comments, suggestions, and QOTW answers to moviebspdx@gmail.com, or post ’em at facebook.com/moviebspdx.
Episode 44: ‘The Mechanic,’ ‘The Rite,’ Oscar nominations, Sundance Film Festival
This week on Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider, Eric is once again off gallivanting (and watching movies) at the Sundance Film Festival. We bring in Mike Russell from the Oregonian to discuss Jason Statham’s new action movie “The Mechanic.” After he leaves, Jeff quickly runs through “The Rite” starring Anthony Hopkins (in a supporting role). Jeff wasn’t too keen on either one of them. After that it’s all things Oscar, talking about those films and people who missed out on a nomination, as well as Eric’s good times in Sundance. We also say goodbye to our Winnipeg fan (thanks to Kevin Smith), so now our Winnipeg is up for grabs and worth a free Blu-ray. Plus, send it your answers to the QOTW “What two women would you like to see star in a film together, and what would it be about?” Our favorite answer will get a DVD/Blu-ray. Send those answers to moviebspdx@gmail.com and follow us on Facebook.com/MovieBSpdx. I said good day.
Episode 43: ‘No Strings Attached,’ ‘The Way Back,’ ‘Blue Valentine,’ ‘Rabbit Hole,’ ‘Somewhere,’ the Critics Choice Awards
This week on Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider we review new movies and old(er) ones, Jeff does a lot of name dropping, and Eric does some festival dropping. First up is “No Strings Attached.” Jeff gives Eric plenty of reasons not to see it. Then the boys talk about “The Way Back,” which they both agree is good, but there are plenty of films you should see first. Speaking of which, they review “Blue Valentine,” “Rabbit Hole” and quickly talk about “Somewhere.” Jeff then talks about being at The Critics’ Choice Movie Awards where he knobbed hobs with Tim Roth, Matt Damon and Quentin Tarantino. There is no QOTW this week, so instead just simply send us some love. Email us at moviebspdx@gmail.com and follow us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/MovieBSpdx.
Episode 42: ‘The Green Hornet,’ ‘The Dilemma,’ interview with ‘Going the Distance’ writer Geoff LaTulippe, Pitch Me
This week on Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider we have a very special guest … Geoff LaTulippe. He’s the screenwriter for the romantic comedy “Going the Distance” starring Justin Long and Drew Barrymore. Before we talk to him we review “The Green Hornet” starring Seth Rogen. Both of us felt like “Hornet” had its moments, but feels more like a rental. Snider saw “The Dilemma” and Bayer chose to see the Portland Trailblazers instead. It sounds like Bayer won this round. With LaTulippe we even squeezed in a game of Pitch Me starring Sam Rockwell, Burt Reynolds and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
The QOTW is “What movie would be better if it had a superhero?” Email us at moviebspdx@gmail.com and follow us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/MovieBSpdx.
Episode 41: ‘Season of the Witch,’ ‘Country Strong,’ ‘Casino Jack,’ ‘Forks Over Knives,’ ‘Hood to Coast’ interview
Bayer and Snider ring in the new year in the traditional fashion, i.e., with a couple of movies that aren’t very good. “Season of the Witch” is dumb but fun; “Country Strong” is dumb and not fun. Bayer didn’t care much for “Casino Jack,” either, though he was intrigued by the vegan documentary “Forks Over Knives.” (Snider didn’t see those two.) The guys also interviewed the director of “Hood to Coast,” a documentary about the famous Oregon relay race, which you can watch on Tuesday, Jan. 11. Visit www.hoodtocoastmovie.com for more info. Your QOTW: What movie would be improved if it had a superhero in it. Explain your answers. Send them to: moviebspdx@gmail.com, or visit www.facebook.com/moviebspdx.
Episode 40: Our top 10 lists for 2010; overlooked movies of 2010
It’s the end of the year, so film critics Eric D. Snider and Jeff Bayer are giving you their Top Ten Movies of the Year. There are six that overlap, and by our math, four that don’t. Listen to find out what they are. Here’s a clue … “Toy Story 3” and “Inception.” We also answer the QOTW, “What are the most overlooked movies of 2010?” As always you can check us out on Facebook at www.facebook.com/MovieBSpdx and email us with your questions, suggestions, rants and anything else you can think of at moviebspdx@gmail.com. Thanks for listening in 2010, and we hope, in the new year as well.
Episode 39: ‘Little Fockers,’ ‘The King’s Speech,’ ‘True Grit,’ Pitch Me
In a special Christmas Eve episode of Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider, Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider talk about how awful “Little Fockers” is, and how great “The King’s Speech” is, and how pretty-good “True Grit” is, and how nice the holidays are, and how Jeff’s knee is doing much better, thank you so much for asking. There’s also a holiday edition of Pitch Me, though Bayer tried to cheat by preparing some material in advance. Reminder for next week’s QOTW: What’s your favorite overlooked movie of 2010? E-mail at moviebspdx@gmail.com, or post on Facebook at www.facebook.com/moviebspdx.
Episode 38: ‘TRON: Legacy,’ ‘The Fighter,’ ‘I Love You Phillip Morris,’ ‘How Do You Know,’ ‘Yogi Bear’
The holidays are coming and so are some movies totally worthy seeing. Eric D. Snider says “TRON: Legacy” is pretty to look at but not much else. Jeff Bayer disagrees and says it’s pretty to look at and more. “The Fighter” is a boxing movie worth your time with Christian Bale stealing many scenes away from Mark Wahlberg (not in a bad way). Eric didn’t see “I Love You Phillip Morris” but Jeff did and describes it as a gay “The Informant!” Thanks to knee surgery, Jeff didn’t sit through “How Do You Know” or “Yogi Bear” and that’s where Eric comes in to give you his take. They answer plenty of QOTWs and the next Question of the Week is “What is your favorite overlooked movie of 2010?” Email your answers to moviebspdx@gmail.com and check out our Facebook page on www.facebook.com/MovieBSpdx.
Episode 37: ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,’ ‘The Tourist,’ Pitch Me
Jeff Bayer is in L.A. hobnobbing with superstars while Eric D. Snider toils away in the studio, but Jeff is on the show anyway! Through the magic of telephones! Bayer and Snider discuss “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” (which isn’t particularly good), and Snider talks about “The Tourist” while Bayer doesn’t listen. They address the QOTW (movie locales you’d like to visit) and offer up a new one: In honor of “TRON: Legacy,” what movie from at least 20 years ago do you think would benefit from a sequel set at least 20 years later? Bayer talked about meeting Jeff Bridges and Barry Pepper, and he and Snider played a rousing game of Pitch Me involving Liam Neeson and Adam Sandler and a kid. Send your QOTW answers to moviebspdx@gmail.com, or visit us at Facebook.com/moviebspdx
Episode 36: ‘Black Swan,’ Interquel
Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider have no movies to talk about this week. What ever shall they do? Well, even though “Black Swan” isn’t out in Portland yet, they’re reviewing (and loving) it. It stars Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis and is in major cities in limited release. “The Warrior’s Way” didn’t have an advance screening, but film.com and thescorecardreview.com will eventually have reviews up. With all this extra time, Bayer and Snider record a much-needed promo, they also play Interquel and answer the QOTW. More important than all of that, they insist you vote for Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider on http://www.podcastawards.com/. You can vote once every 24 hours. Make it so. Next week’s QOTW is “What movie location (real or fictional) would you most like to visit and what would you do there?” Send your answers to moviebspdx@gmail.com.
Episode 35: ‘Tangled,’ ‘Love and Other Drugs,’ ‘Faster,’ Pitch Me
It’s the post-Thanksgiving episode of Movie B.S., and Bayer and Snider are bloated. Which is inexcusable, since they taped the show on Wednesday. Snider is in the studio with a cold; Bayer is literally phoning it in. “Tangled” is solid, “Love and Other Drugs” is just okay, “Faster” is slower, and “Burlesque”… they didn’t see. Plus there’s Pitch Me, holiday talk, and a reminder for QOTW: what movie do you think should be remade, and why? Email moviebspdx@gmail.com
