My coworkers and I jokingly refer to this wonderful restaurant as our favourite gas station sushi because of its unusual location, but it simply is my favourite in all of the lower mainland. I almost don't want to rave about it, lest people start ignoring that it's attached to a gas station and pile in by the dozens. :), Alberta Arts District, Portland, United States. The mary Jane roll is one of our favorites, it's a bit small, but we go there with kiddos and works for us. Love their "Monkey Brain" which is like a deconstructed California Roll without the rice. The province news paper has done write ups on them.
Tried elsewhere but no one else compares. more. We had salmon sashimi, veg sunomono, spicy tuna crunchy roll (my fave), yam yam roll, and a dynamite roll. The first thing that makes this place unique is that is attached to a gas station but it's not the gas station. They were both delicious. The food was also reasonable priced so it was a win win for us. We were seated right away and were given glasses of cold water immediately because it was so hot outside. There sushi is amazing and the...prices are very reasonable too. there are a lot of sushi places in Aldergrove and I go to them all but often I have to go back to Tomo. Highly recommend! The prices are reasonable and the service was friendly and prompt, except we did have some trouble flagging a server from the table we had tucked into the corner, which wasn't a big deal. It just shared the main structure but it is completely walled off and is a real sit down restaurant. (Attached to a gas station). Reasonable prices too. After going to subpar Japanese restaurants in the area, we really enjoyed coming to Tomo and will return. My 4 year also enjoyed it with me.
The food is fresh, and comes out quickly.

I highly recommend it. (Great for those low-carb diets) Ended up here without first checking the other Yelp reviews as I normally do, and glad because the only other review at this time was a 3-star review which I believe is mis-representative. Everything was excellent.I highly recommend it. Outstanding food and service. It's not about nutrients and calories. If you can get past that part then you'll be fine. It is...not a very big place but it looked inviting so in we went.
:)The food here is superb as far as my sushi experiences go and I've had sushi all over the continent and several places in BC.
If we move to this neighbourhood I'll have to walk to Tomo in order to burn off all the calories I'll be eating there! Food, in the end, in our own tradition, is something holy. Welcome to Benkey Sushi in Aldergrove, B.C. My only complaint is that the dynamite roll was one of those bigger-than-my-head size rolls. I love coming here for the lunch special, great value for the amount of food you get. We stopped at this sushi place on our way to our hotel in Aldergrove, we thought it was funny cause it was beside the gas station, so i looked at the reviews, and we gave it a try.OMG, best sushi hands down. Only thing is there is a very heavy fishy smell in the restaurant more than the average sushi place, I’ve tried most of the sushi places in Langley and Aldergrove and Tomo is by far the best!!
Don't let the Esso station here fool you as Tomo Sushi is connected to it but they share different entrances.
The nigiri and sashimi are LARGE by Toronto standards for an a la carte type menu.Another bonus of being on the left coast is they absolutely go wild on the sockeye salmon which is a rarity in the east where you get the Atlantic salmon much more often which is probably farmed to boot.My absolute favorite item is the BC roll which is a variation of a salmon skin roll. !Saucy and delicious, give it a try.
